SC 2015 Semilab: Advanced Robotics

This semilab is for students who already have some experience with robotics and with programming. The goal for this year is to build a robot capable of autonomous driving, using GPS navigation and compass. We will be using Android cell phone as robot controller; time permitting, we will also add more sensors for obstacle avoidance.

The robot will be programmed in Java using Android Studio IDE.

Students should have some experience with building robots (LEGO Mindstorms, Tetrix, VeX,...) and programming in Java (preferred) or C.

Below is a video showing a robot using GPS navigation. This robot was not built by me, and it uses different controller. Still, it shoudl give you some idea what to expect - if we succeed:
