SC 2014 Semilab: Visual Calculus by Mamikon

by Mamikon Mnatsakanian

We will playfully discover amazing properties of natural shapes and their, mostly unknown, dynamic relationships. We will use specially designed hands-on activities and manipulatives, interactive computer games and animations to mimic Nature’s shapes and motions. We will solve classical problems of calculus with a new intuitive and visual elementary approach and easily generalize them - without formulas, or equations, and with no special background needs. This new, internationally recognized science of shapes can be brought to kindergartners with the use of tray puzzles and coloring books. Animations can be seen at under Visual Calculus, and One may google “Visual Calculus Mamikon” for excited reactions on thousands websites, like Wiki or Wolfram Demos.
