Mafia 2014
We had particularly many photos posted from Day 5 in our blog: 1, 2, 3 and 4, so we decided to focus today on the game of Mafia with lie detectors, that was conducted as an application of the Biosensors and Deception Semilab.
While some mathematicians choose to study game theory, here at SigmaCamp, we prefer to live it! According to Braverman, Etesami and Mossel (2008), the Mafiosi win rate can be described as: where m=number of Mafiosi, and P=number of players. But this assumes standard interrogations. Here at SigmaCamp, we prefer to tilt the advantage towards Truth, and therefore asked the esteemed Mujica-Parodi Semi-Lab to supplement police interrogations with polygraph tests. Using their state-of-the-art biosensors (electrocardiogram, electrodermal activity, electromyography, electroencephalography), signal processing acumen, and finely-honed data analysis/statistical skills, the Mujica-Parodi Semi-Lab Research Team was successful in ferreting out the culprit. Now that justice has been served, Silver Lake is safe once again!
