Another fun day of SigmaCamp has come and gone successfully! We had an immensely exciting day today. Lectures went incredibly well (especially the one on pain perception), including the interesting lecture given by Maxim Kontsevich (renowned mathematician, Fields Medal winner). Despite the very hot weather, all campers enjoyed all of their incredible Semilabs. Sigma campers were given a bit of a treat today; we had a picnic by the lakefront during lunch! Right after morning Semilabs, campers and counselors alike went down to the lake to enjoy an hour and a half of refreshing swimming in the cool water to escape from the heat. After everyone was dried off and smiling, we had hamburgers, hot dogs, peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches, and salads to enjoy in the warm sun on the beach. The rest of the day was full of the chemistry of fire, beautiful cell pictures, and robotics missions - and then we still had the evening workshops and clubs! Workshops included the perfect chocolate chip cookie, pain sensitivity, and spinning tennis balls. In terms of evening clubs, campers, counselors, and faculty learned how to dance the swing, play Mafia (now a casual game for casual people), and played ping-pong and chess in our game room. After such an exciting day, the campers were tired but happy - finishing up their cookies and milk drowsily, they soon fell asleep, dreaming of the next amazing day at SigmaCamp.
