Electrochemistry

During this semilab, we will be studying reactions of ionic compounds, including interaction of ions with each other as well as with organic ligands. We will see how these reactions can affect physical properties of ions, which includes spectacular color change. and we will use these phenomenae for identification of some specific ions in complex mixtures. We also will learn how and why electrochemical reactions produce electricity, and we also will do the opposite: use electricity to perform some interesting chemical reactions, which includes such interesting and practically important procedures as electroplating.
