What comes to your mind when you think about Physics? Perhaps Newton’s Laws, or Relativity Theory, or maybe Electromagnetism and Quantum Mechanics? In this Semilab, we will explore the world of one of the most important, most ignored and seriously misunderstood fields: Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics. We will learn about energy, entropy and temperature, and how they make the time go forward and not back. We will learn how to count molecules in a glass of water, and what they have in common with a drunk man in Manhattan. We will learn this all by doing (mostly) simple experiments in the kitchen. And, by the way, some of the results of those experiments will be quite edible!
