Day 5, SigmaWest 2026

Day 5 Photos

For the Day 5 blog, we held a blog-writing workshop. 6 campers from various teams came together to write their own version of today's events. Below is what they wrote about the day.

We had a very lazy start to the day, with many of us going to breakfast late.

After breakfast, we went to the final morning semilab. It was a great experience, with many experiments going on. Quantum simulation got a field trip to the physics of light; it broadened our vision. It was cool. We experienced our final day about data at Andrey Khesin’s semilab, where we talked about how events can be correlated in different ways. We also designed a study which we tried to spoil, which we couldn’t.

The chess and tennis tournaments advanced a good amount and we paid our final visit to the rock wall. Nothing really happened during lunch. For lunch, we had the super tasty pulled pork sandwich again.

In my Game Theory semilab, we estimated the perfect distance to throw the ball out. We threw balls at our TA, Tiago, to estimate this distance. He was screaming in joy. In How to Build an App, we ended our last semilab by vibecoding a video game. In Flow and Force, we experimented with the Magnus effect by launching cup and rubber band slingshots. Lastly, in Igor’s final radioactivity semilab, we created a Geiger counter to measure how radioactive uranium ore is. Yes, we used real uranium. It was found deep in the Colorado mountains.

Many people had fun in the pool. We basically just splashed. People relaxed by spending their time in the cool water rather than the hot sun.

During lectures we learned about the AI uprising from Nestor and we learned about mathematic probability from Eugene. We also learned about an infinite glitch where it requires less volume to fill a bucket than paint the walls of it.

At dinner, we heavily oversalted one of our counselor’s meals. We gave a standing ovation to one of our cabinmates (zeta) for finishing his first dinner. We also stole one of our counselors (the same counselor we oversalted) SET games. One of us had dinner with the lecturer, and I asked “What would happen if you trained the AI to commit crimes?”

We had an exciting round of SigmaTournament games today, including comebacks, ties, wins, and unfortunate losses. Then we went to our workshops, this is where we are right now.

In the future, we are going to watch a world cup match (zeta) during team time. Some of us are going to the swings instead of evening clubs, I will still win at Blood on the Clocktower though.

MILK AND COOKIES. Team Chi is planning to open a glowstick and throw it in the toilet and see what happens when we flush it. We do not plan on sleeping tonight at an orderly time. We are planning to sleep at never. Remember to send your kids Telegraphs. Bon nuit.
