SigmaNext 2026: Overview

SigmaNext is a summer STEM camp in Connecticut designed for high school students aged 14–17 who want to dive deeply into advanced topics in mathematics and science. SigmaNext is one of three programs we offer this summer, alongside SigmaCamp in Connecticut and SigmaWest in California, which are for younger students. You may apply to and attend any number of our camps this year.

The SigmaNext format adapts SigmaCamp's experience for older students, supporting them as independent learners who wish to spend one week (August 9-16, 2026) pursuing their passion for learning advanced math and science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering). The instructors at SigmaNext are researchers from top institutions, including MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, Stony Brook, and many others.

Academic Program

SigmaNext shares SigmaCamp's multidisciplinary approach, offering an in-depth exploration of advanced Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics (both theoretical and experimental), Biology, and Chemistry. The SigmaNext academic program takes a more focused and self-directed approach. Students are encouraged to dive deeply into a chosen subject through a 10-class Semilab course and two brief Lecture courses. Additionally, the program features an evening Workspaces for each subject, facilitating mentorship and support for independent discoveries and experiments. The TournamentNext remains a highlight for challenging teams in solving problems.

Non-Academic Activities

What summer camp would be complete without some outdoor fun? We have a variety of sports you can enjoy, like soccer, basketball, ping-pong, and chess. Other options include yoga classes and swimming in the lake. You can experience the art of tree climbing at the multiple High Ropes courses, and if you don’t like sports, you can paint, play music, or practice your acting skills. In the evenings, you have a choice of several evening clubs, ranging from geography trivia games to poetry readings.

Tuition, Discounts, and Financial Aid

This year, the SigmaNext program costs $2,400 for 8 days/7 nights.
We offer sibling discounts (20% off for the second child and 35% off for the third child), as well as a 20% discount for students who attend more than one camp during the summer. Through our need-blind admissions and financial aid program, we aim to ensure that every qualified applicant can attend our camps.

Silver Lake provides a full meal service of a hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition, a snack in the middle of the day and milk and cookies before bed. All that comes with options for any personal preferences or dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets or any allergies. We collect all diet- or allergy-related information in advance before the camp starts.

At SigmaNext, we prioritize safety and attention with a 1:2 staff-to-camper ratio, ensuring 24/7 supervision. A registered nurse is always on-site, and certified professionals oversee swimming and high ropes activities.

SigmaNext camp follows Silver Lake Camp and Conference Center’s policies related to COVID-19 vaccination. Silver Lake does not require, but highly recommends campers and staff to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The use of personal electronics at camp, including cell phones, laptops, smartwatches, etc., is not permitted. During the camp, we provide a way for parents to communicate with campers through the "Sigma Telegraph”. They can leave a message for their camper using the online form on our website and later receive an answer from them. More details will be available for admitted campers.

There is also a daily blog on the SigmaCamp website where camp photos and news are posted daily so parents can keep up with what is happening in our camp.
