Rise and shine, campers!
After a big breakfast and morning exercise, as always, campers were ready for our long-awaited last day of semilabs! In the morning, campers ran their final experiments, like feeding a planaria with fluorescent bacteria in the Bioelectricity Semilab, among many other exciting wrap-ups.
Before lunch, campers enjoyed a great SigmaBreak with lake time and high ropes, as fun as ever. Afterward, campers headed to the day's lectures:
Andrey Boris Khesin explored the strange and beautiful world of geometry in "Hyperbolic Geometry and the Strange Curvature of M.C. Escher's Work." Yuri Salkinder took campers through the evolution of artificial intelligence in "AI: Past, Present, and What's Around the Corner." Julia Brodsky examined how complex systems take shape (and sometimes go wrong) in "Self-Organization, Emergence, and Mission Risk." And Mark Lukin brought chemistry into focus with "When Voids Matter, or How Molecules React."
For our last regular day of SigmaTournament, campers had engineering day, where they got the chance to show off their skills and learn a ton alongside their teammates.
After dinner and another SigmaBreak, campers made their way to workspaces! For our final day of workspaces, options included Crystal Radio with Dennis Andelman, PET Bottle Rockets with Isabel Costa, and many more, a great way to close out our run of workspaces.
For a chill evening, campers had plenty of evening clubs to choose from. One highlight was Brain Ring, a fast-paced event that put campers' quick thinking and logic to the test. There was also ceramics with Sofia Alfenito and a Tanghulu-making club with Alina Khankin.
After such a packed day, campers headed off for some well-deserved rest ahead of tomorrow: our very last day! We can't wait for it...
