Day 2!
Campers rose bright and early for morning exercise before a hearty breakfast, then returned to their semilabs to dig deeper into their chosen subjects. In Drone Swarming, campers programmed autonomous flight and worked up to controlling a fleet together. Others explored Fun and Science of Soap Film, uncovering the physics behind soap bubbles, or tackled Infinities and Paradoxes, wrestling with the strange logic of the infinite, among many other options across camp.
After SigmaBreak, campers attended a fresh round of lectures. Carina Curto explored "Graphs, Networks, and Equivalence Relations in the Brain." Katrina Ligett posed the question "Why Would an Algorithm Be Unfair?" Yuri Pritykin offered "Editing DNA with CRISPR: A Computer Scientist's Perspective." And Masha Kamenetska dove into "Single Molecule Electronics: How to Wire a Single Molecule Circuit Using Chemistry and Quantum Mechanics."
Today's SigmaTournament brought biology and chemistry to center stage, with teams battling it out through another round of wins, losses, and ties. The day's Experiment of the Day gave campers a hands-on look at anatomy with a frog dissection. It is still any team's game! Tomorrow is Math Games, which is always a camper favorite.
After dinner, campers headed into workshops, including a couple of Junior Instructor Challenges, where campers themselves ran the show with staff advising in the background. One group led a paste engineering challenge, while another walked through the theory behind artistic and synchronized swimming.
Evening clubs rounded out the night with karaoke and an AI Tips and Tricks session.
Tomorrow brings the Chamber Concert, where campers and staff will show off their classical music talent and finally make the effort of hauling their instruments to camp worth it!
