Rise and shine, campers!
Mornings are coming early this week, but nobody seemed to mind as campers fueled up and headed back into their semilabs, picking up right where they left off. Week-long projects kept taking shape, whether that meant fine-tuning reinforcement learning models or getting hands-on with learning math through shuffling cards.
Lectures followed after SigmaBreak, with a lineup that touched on everything from evolution to artificial intelligence. Guilherme T. Goedert returned for part two of "The Math Behind Survival of the Fittest," while Anna Rumshisky had campers thinking differently about their chatbots in "Inside Your Chatbot's Brain: How LLMs Turn Numbers into Meaning", just two of several talks that kept the day full of new ideas.
Out on the SigmaTournament field, the campers displayed their abilities in bio and chem problems, where as the competition showed no signs of slowing down, with teams battling hard to keep their standings alive.
Evening rolled around with a workspace for just about every interest, from peering into particle trails in Cloud Chamber to whipping up something delicious in Cheese Factory; plus astronomy, drone building, and a few games of chance thrown in for good measure.
And once the sun went down, campers had their pick of ways to unwind: some laced up for a night of ballroom dancing, others gathered for a quiet game of Go, and a lucky few got a taste of something sweet with a Brazilian candy-making session, proof that even after a full day, there's always room for a little more fun.
