For the Day 3 blog, we held a blog-writing workshop. 6 campers from various teams (Maya from delta, Grace from phi, Danny from tau, Mark from kappa, Masha from alpha, Agnes from phi) came together to write their own version of today's events. Below is what they wrote about the day.
We were awoken by the graceful sounds of a melodic melody Tiki Tiki. I (Mark) was awoken by German rock. I (Danny) was awoken by my teammates forcing me to play 4-player chess. Agnes ate French toast with 3 slabs of butter each. Maya had 4 apples.
Mark had from Gene to Protein in the morning. The experiment didn’t go as planned, but it was still fun. He also understood the answer to one of yesterday’s tournament problems. Masha had the bubble semilab. And, um, and I learned how to grab bubbles with my hands without popping them. Maya nurtured her pet E. coli named Danya. Grace learned how to correctly guess… wait she’s going to explain it… ok so basically our semilab instructor would take one sticky pad and put it in her pocket, and then we had to guess which letter we thought was majority X or majority Os in the hat. That is mathematical algorithms of social phenomena. Or something like that.
Agnes and Masha went swimming and they were each other’s swim buddies. Agnes displayed some of her artistic swimming. Maya and Grace went berry picking and found a bunch behind Rho and then they built a tower in the game room. Mark practiced Viva la Vida for the talent show. Masha wrote an essay to her friend about all the events that happened.
Most of us went to the lecture about autism. Mark went to the mathematics lecture; it was super easy to follow. Danny went to Mark’s Lukin lecture. He doesn’t remember what it’s about.
Masha ate 5 slices of pizza for lunch. Grace had one and then dissected her second slice. Agnes saw someone take 4 slices of pizza at once.
Masha was in Mark’s semilab about Chemistry, color and fire. And we basically mixed, did the uh, you know the problem in the tournament. We recreated it. We actually mixed sulphur and iron. And we learned that the answer is no, it is not magnetic. Grace and Maya watched planaria feed on liver powder. It was kinda gross though. Agnes silver-plated a ring of copper and Vanessa (the TA) got silver nitrate on her hands so they are black now. Danny tortured AI bots with impossible mazes. It was fun, I liked it.
Today was Math Games for the tournament. Mark’s team won, they found the optimal strategy. He won against his sister. Super happy about that. Maya adopted a religious mentality. Alpha lost by a couple of points. Phi lost by a couple more points. Danny’s team and rho tied.
During the break, Danny played five-card Mao with two beginners who accrued so many penalties we had to grab another deck. Team phi cut Tarika, their counselor’s, hair. Grace and Maya gave her curtain bangs. Mark did glassblowing during the second break because he couldn’t do it yesterday. Masha cleaned her room and then Agnes and Masha wrote fanfics. *plan has started to cut Masha’s hair to give her curtain bangs*
Mark had a 30-second dinner because he needed to practice for tonight’s chamber concert. Another thing happened, but he doesn’t think we should add it. Agnes had 2 ice cream sandwiches and now her stomach hurts. Masha ate 4 breadsticks and then she got a letter from her friend. She wrote 3 letters, two for her family about using AI to write her letters. “Mom, Dad, stop using AI!” Agnes got a letter from her mom and she randomly dropped the word fortuitous. “I know its not AI, its just how she talks.” Grace’s mom talked about her cooking, it made Grace very sad. Her mom said she was eating leftovers because she only cooks for her. The cleaning competition was announced and all of team tau decided they are not participating. Mark said OH HECK NO.
Now we are in workshop. Right now we are talking about how loud we all are at night, especially tau, who is jumping around all night. Maya and Grace say Tau do that. Danny heavily disagrees that they jump around but they are definitely very loud. We are about to pick cute photos of us to go on the blog.
We are excited to listen to the chamber concert. Mark is performing Sonatina E-flat Major. Maya and Grace are so hyped for him. Masha and Agnes are so hyped for Mark also. Mark hasn’t practiced for a long time; he’s hoping he doesn’t make a mistake.
Delta is planning on teaching Joao V more Russian words during team time. Agnes is going to eat all of the cookies during team time. Grace is hunting down more cookies.
Moms and Dads, stop using AI to write your telegraph letters. We love you guys; we miss you and our dogs. Masha misses rocket league. And Roblox. Duolingo is coming for Agnes because she lost her 800-day streak.
Danny wants a formal goodbye. In case he doesn’t see you… he realized that sounds bad. He actually just wants to write nothing. And for me to stop writing everything he says.
