The campers rose bright and early and made their beds with extra care. Today we held a special tournament for the cleanest team at Sigma. It sparked an arms race in camper cleanliness. Campers rapidly evolved from making their beds, to folding swans out of towels, writing notes to the judges, and leaving gifts for inspectors.
At the same time the campers learned about medical and diagnostic imaging techniques with Olga R. Brook's lecture "Superpowers, Sort Of: How Doctors See inside the Human Body", learning how to manage municipal water infrastructure with Anna Rosner in their lecture "How to Manage Your City's Water (Without Poisoning Your Citizens", the logic limits of language with Richard Granger in "Learning to Language to Logic to Limits" , or "The Geometry of the Perfect Cut" with Roberto Sant'Anna during their mid morning lecture.
Today's sigma tournament put the camper's communication skills and teamwork to the test. The worked hard in sub team groups to communicate snippets of information between two different languages. One group was only allowed to speak in Esperanto and the other group was only allowed to use a subset of the English language. Together they decoded their secret messages to unlock victory.
During workshops today the campers learned about high power rocketry, designing airplanes, making artificial biospheres, and how to change their own oil in a car. All essential life skills. One of our campers lead a class on synchronized swimming for their fellow campers during the morning break, which is a part of our junior instructor challenge.
In the evening the campers put on the best ever sigma talent show to date. Featuring numerous gorgeous musical solos, impromptu bands and group acts, LED POI spinning, and a wonderful ballet performance.
