Data Detective: Uncovering Patterns and Insights with SQL

Data analysis sits at the foundation of answering today’s most important questions. Whether in technology, science, public health, or social research, the ability to query large datasets and uncover hidden patterns has become an essential skill—and SQL is the universal language that makes it possible.

In this hands-on seminar, you’ll become a data detective, learning to query databases and extract insights from real-world data. Working with datasets modeling common scenarios—user behavior, product interactions, event tracking, and more—you’ll progress from simple queries to sophisticated analysis. Each session presents a new mystery to solve: How do we identify unusual patterns in large datasets? Where do people drop off in multi-step processes? How do we know if a change actually improved outcomes?

Through progressive challenges, you’ll learn SQL techniques used by data analysts at top tech companies, researchers studying complex systems, and anyone who needs to make sense of large amounts of information. By the end of the week, you’ll have written real queries that answer meaningful questions—and you might even solve real-world interview questions from Meta, Google or Amazon.
