This semilab will explore mathematical and algorithmic approaches to understanding several social phenomena, from “herding” to neighborhood segregation to the ways we pair up people with jobs. We’ll use hands-on activities to see how the models actually work, learn the math that makes them tick, and talk about how to (carefully!) interpret the “lessons” they teach us.
