SigmaCamp Next 2024: Overview
At SigmaCamp Next high school students ages 15-17 can dive deeply into advanced topics in mathematics and science. SigmaCamp Next is one of two programs we offer this summer. For information about SigmaCamp 2024 (for students ages 12-16), click here.
The format of SigmaCamp Next adapts the summer STEM camp experience of SigmaCamp for older students, supporting them as independent learners who wish to spend one week (August 18-25, 2024) pursuing their passion for learning advanced math and science. The instructors at SigmaCamp Next are researchers from top institutions such as MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, Stony Brook, and many other universities.
SigmaCamp takes place at Silver Lake Camp and Conference Center: 223 Low Road, Sharon, Connecticut, USA. See the location on Google Maps

Academic program
SigmaCamp Next shares SigmaCamp's multidisciplinary approach, offering an in-depth exploration of advanced Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics (both theoretical and experimental), Biology, and Chemistry.
SigmaCamp Next academic program has a more focused and self-directed approach. Students are encouraged to dive deeply into a chosen subject through a 10-class Semilab course and two brief Lecture courses. Additionally, the program features an evening Workshop Space for each subject, facilitating mentorship and support for independent discoveries and experiments. The Sigma Tournament remains a highlight to challenge teams in solving problems. You can find more detailed information on the academic offerings at SigmaCamp Next here.
Non-Academic Activities
What summer camp would be complete without some outdoor fun? We have a variety of sports you can enjoy, like soccer, basketball, ping-pong, and chess. Other options include yoga classes and swimming in the lake. You can experience the art of tree climbing at the multiple High Ropes courses, and if you don’t like sports, you can paint, play music, or practice your acting skills. In the evenings, you have a choice of several evening clubs, ranging from geography trivia games to poetry readings.
Tuition
SigmaCamp Next program costs $2,200 for 8 days/7 nights. We offer sibling discounts (20% for the second child and 35% for the third child ) and 20% off if you attend both programs. Our need-based scholarships help all qualified students to participate at SigmaCamp Next. Read more about our financial aid program and apply here
Our Instructors and Counselors
The instructors and counselors at SigmaCamp Next have all been staff at SigmaCamp. Most instructors are active researchers in top U.S. universities and national laboratories, and counselors are pursuing undergraduate/graduate degrees in STEM.
Our Campers
Gifted and talented students come to SigmaCamp Next worldwide, including all over the US, Canada, South America, and Europe. Upon arrival at the camp, students are assigned to teams with whom they will live together and participate in some team activities like the Sigma Tournament.
Though team life is important, the individual student itineraries will be independent of their team activities, and each student will be able to choose their own semilab course, lecture courses, workshops, and how to spend their free time.
Accommodation
Our students are housed in comfortable lodge buildings with a cozy living room and around four sleeping rooms in each. Each team is co-ed, occupying two rooms.
The campground features many sports facilities, including a lifeguard-supervised swimming area, basketball and soccer fields, outdoor ping-pong tables, a campfire pit, and two high ropes courses supervised by certified instructors. Learn more about all the facilities on the Silver Lake Camp and Conference Center website
Food
Silver Lake provides a full meal service of a hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition, a snack in the middle of the day and milk and cookies before bed. We collect all diet- or allergy-related information in advance before the camp starts.
Healthcare and safety
At SigmaCamp, we prioritize safety and attention with a 1:2 staff-to-camper ratio, ensuring 24/7 supervision. A registered nurse is always on-site, and certified professionals oversee swimming and high ropes activities.
