The first full day of SigmaCamp went spectacularly well. First, we had several very interesting lectures, including ones on the Mandelbrot fractal; how we perceive galaxies and stars; and the science behind nanobots, among others. Afterwards, we had our first semilabs, full of chemistry, biology, robotics, and many more. The sky began to darken and we started our workshops.
Today was an incredibly successful first day at SigmaCamp! We all had an extraordinary time going around to fun games and exercises at several different stations set up around camp; games such as charades, creating and untying a human knot, balancing the whole team on one chair, and many more. We then had the most interesting Opening Ceremony ever, complete with prizes, an incredible lecture about the upcoming CRISPR-Cas9 revolution by our very own Mark Lukin, and the traditional release of the SigmaSpirit!
Preparations for SigmaCamp 2017 are almost complete! Our staff team has set up camp, now putting on the finishing touches to make sure everything is perfect for Arrival Day tomorrow. We can't wait to meet all of our campers and are ready to have the best summer ever!
Our team of counselors has arrived at SigmaCamp, now preparing for the best summer ever. Arrival Day is drawing near, and we can't wait to meet all of you! Updates throughout the week will be posted here and on our Facebook page, http://facebook.com/sigmacamp. See you all soon!
Last day of Sigma Camp is now over.
We managed to squeeze in another set of four lectures and the Grand Unification of the Sigma Tournament.
After that all teams finished their films, which we watched to everyone’s amusement at the Movie Festival.
We concluded our camp with presentation of diplomas to everyone at the closing ceremony and sealed the Sigma Sprit to be held in our vessel and our hearts until we reunite here again next year.
Today was the last day of all semilabs. It was a bitter sweet feeling for all. All labs finished with the bang! We hope that the campers became inspired to continue with the sciences, the doors to which were cracked opened for them through our labs.
Sigma adventure continued this Thursday. Campers enjoyed four lectures, which were followed by morning semilabs. A new addition to the break time, the dance lessons, were quite popular.
Today was another full, busy day at Sigma. Teams participated in their own morning exercise routines and had a nutritious breakfast. Lectures and semilabs alternated with free time for a balanced day.
The Sigma Tournament was replaced by a camp-wide game of Brain Ring! Campers enjoyed both testing their trivia skills and competing against other teams.
Today at Sigma Camp there were four well-attended lectures in the morning:
The lectures were followed by am semilabs where learning and exploration continued.
First full day of Sigma Adventure was eventful for everyone involved. The day started with morning exercise followed by the morning rush to sign up for evening workshops in anticipation of the hands on fun to be had. 5 lectures were offered for everyone to choose from to start their day. Following the lectures campers found their semilabs and embarked with their instructors on the journey of exploration.
